Sunday December 22nd

Post by Far Rider »

:coffee: Morning all.

42°f the day will be getting longer now, strange that it's this warm this morning, but it happens from time to time.

Would it be that people that have to haul water in don't have a water table within reach or is the water high sulfur content or something else that makes it non-potable.
A friend in Hanford CA has to drink bottled water because the city water stinks and then when I was stationed in SC another friend had sulfur stinking water.

Morning. Overcast, 47 degrees, 40 mph wind.

There are all sorts of problems with water in Natrona County, and Wyoming in general. Most Natrona County wells have reverse osmosis systems or something similar to make the water potable. Excessive dissolved-solids concentrations is the most common chemcial problem, with Natrona County and Hot Springs County having the highest median of dissolved solids. Nitrates are a common problem. In some places, flouride, iron, and manganese occur in higher concentrations than US standards. Selenium is the only toxic element in found in county wells, but it is fairly common.

Out of state people are moving in to buy "ranches" without any idea of water rights and thinking that good water is available just by punching a hole in the ground. One gal who lives in a rural development (looks like town without the conveniences) was bragging about having a well and not "crappy city water." I explained the concept of ground water and asked her where she thought all the garden chemicals and and automotive fluids ended up when her neighbors dumped them on the ground. She resented having science dragged into her organic garden existence.
Mind the thorns.

Life is like riding a motorcycle. Balance is key, unless you’re at a stoplight and forget to put your feet down. Then, balance is just embarrassing.
