My 7 year old Microsoft Surface Pro decided it was time to die. The battery was swelling, pushing the screen away from the body, but it was still working. Sitting in my favorite easy chair, with the Surface on my lap. Everything was great...

Until the sparks and smoke. Yeah, it's a little disconcerting having a electronics self-destruct that close to home plate.

Anyways,I survived. Afte e bit of research I replaced it with an Asus S13 Zenbook. 32G Ram, i7 Core Ultra, 3K OLED screen, weighs about 2 lbs. It's pretty awesome. I decided to install everything from scratch to avoid some of the garbage I had on my old system. It has taken me a couple of weeks to get it to the way I want it, but well worth the time and effort.

Build quality is pretty awesome, I'm very impressed. For a super-thin, lightweight package, it actually feels nice and sturdy.

Performance is good. Good enough to be my laptop workhorse. I will be buying another system to be a more powerful workstation for video editing and such, but this will do in a pinch.

Only drawback I've noticed is that I had gotten used to the touch screen. I don't ever use a pen, so that's not a big loss, I just find myself trying to pinch-zoom the screen every once in a while.

So far, very happy with it

Life is like riding a motorcycle. Balance is key, unless you’re at a stoplight and forget to put your feet down. Then, balance is just embarrassing.

Nice.

But it isn't a touch screen?

Yeah I had to lay my old Dell to rest that we had over 8 or more years because it was almost scorching my thighs while I was using it on battery or plugged into the charger

Don't ya just hate having to transfer all the files and setting up a new 'puter. Got the wife a new one as well and as she doesn't have 'Jason', her tech support guy when she was working for the bank guess who had to set hers up as well......
Often asked question: When are you going to think about getting a trike?

Answer: When I come to a stop with this one, put my feet down and can't hold it up!

Nice. I'm hoping mine will last a few more years, but if it does die, I hope it takes the dive in warm weather since my computer guy of 20 years is retired and spends the winters in Arizona. He still does work for friends, and I wouldn't know where to turn if he wasn't here. I might be faced with figuring things out myself, and that would be disconcerting, to say the least. I've got a nearly new desk top that I like, but sitting in my favorite chair with a lap top is hard to beat.
Mind the thorns.
