Morning. I spent a couple of hours rereading and editing this morning, so now feel justified to visit and see what the fine folks here are doing. Yeah, it's also an excuse for procrastination, but there ya go.
Sunny, the air is moving at a gentle 30 mph, actual temperature is 47 degrees, windchill 38 degrees. Glad I got the pruning done yesterday, At around 3 a.m. this morning, the wind was clipping along at 45 mph. I haven't gone out yet to see if it blew down the limbs that broke in the last respectable wind.

And here I am sitting around complaining about 49° and rain. Thank you for reminding me it could be worse.
What the hell do you prune in Wyoming in December? I thought everything up there was dead by now.

Wait until winter finally gets here and I'll give you something worse to contemplate. A couple of years ago, we had weeks of sub-zero weather with some nights dipping to -35.
Everything has gone dormant, but the wood isn't frozen so I can prune without hurting anything. I cut down a catoneaster hedge and pruned back some wild plums that have gotten out of hand. I like to work when all the leaves are gone so I can see the shape of the plants. I've been doing this long enough that I can tell the difference between dead wood and wood that is just asleep. I don't prune lilacs this time of year since they bloom on second year wood. I'll cut them back after they bloom in the spring.

Typical Tucson weather in December. Mornings in the 40's and afternoons in the 70's,,, and sunny. OK, so your guys get your revenge in the summer.
