I wish I hadn't paid mine off now....

Yeah, that was a real slap in the face to all the people who did the right thing and honored the contracts they signed.

Got an email from an acquaintance recently announcing that all $147,000 of her student loans had been forgiven. I suppose she expected me to congratulate her on accruing that kind of debt and having someone else pay it off. I did not. I chose a college I could afford and worked up to three jobs at a time during school to pay my expenses. My husband did the same. We both paid off our student loans within in a few years. Silly us. If only we'd known someday it would pay to be irresponsible and extravagant.

Yeah, this grates on me.
