Are the little ape hangers stock? They have really gotten behind marketing the RG.

I was in Sturgis the one year when they came out with the updated faring, I think that was around '13 or '14, with all the vents inside the faring to let air flow through better.

Yeah, that's the way it comes. The bars actually feel perfect for me. They updated the fairing again.

So i jumped in headfirst. I bought it. Never thought I would own a road glide, but after riding it a couple hundred miles I am now questioning if I've been riding the wrong bike for the last 26 years.

Yeah I was riding my '06 RG across somewhere in Kansas from ES, and at one gas stop I had bought some shelled sunflower seeds and put them in my tee shirt pocket to eat while I was riding. Well a couple slipped out of my hand and the way the old RG faring had "dead" air behind it they kind of floated around in the air for a bit until a little change in the air direction happened.

I'm envious. I miss my bike, though I know it was time to hang up my hemet. I still like crosscountry drives, but somehow, a Camry is not quite the same experience as my Virago. For one thing, I don't have to stop every hundred miles for gas.

I just saw something the other day about Tonya (@mstapestry) selling her bike and giving it up. Not sure what is going on with her, but it must be serious for a die hard like her to give it up. I never thought I'd see the day

I saw that, too. Maybe Tom mentioned it? T's about the age I was when I had to give up riding. The spirit is still willing, but the joints are weak.

I tell myself I'll never give it up, but I know otherwise....

Yes I saw on book of face that Ms T is selling her Street Glide.

But she says she will be at this years Cloud Riders in Ingram TX. I'm thinking of going if the weather is mostly decent between here and there. Last time I trailered the bike, this time I would love to do one last long ride before I hang it up. Thursday April 30th - Sunday May 3rd

We trailered our bikes to T's place in Big Spring the year we went, mainly because we were concerned with hitting a spring blizzard on the way home. We rode over to see my aunt in Waco, stopped in Kileen to ride with some folks, then went down to Cloud Riders. Turned out that we got colder riding back to her place from Junction than we did anywhere else on the trip. Roy did a bunch of longer crosscountry trips, but that was the longest one I made except for a long loop through Montana.

Cloud rider attendance has been dwindling in recent years, but I still go every year and will continue to even if nobody else is there. It isn’t like it used to be but then again nothing is

It was a grand adventure to ride with that many people, even in Dinero's puttering along group. To the end of the universe, my friend.

Congrats on the new bike Dan, even if it's to the Dark Side. Likely I'll never have a RG. In 2010 we were on a 2900 mile trip from Virginia to upper Michigan, then across Canada to NY, VT, NH and ME. While in Bangor, stopped in the dealer for a T shirt. They had a brand new CVO RG on the floor. Patti took one look and said pretty color, ugly bike. So now you know.

I would like to make another trip to the Hill Country, but the time frame for Cloud Riders conflicts with our annual 3 week trip to the beach and camping with non-riding friends at a military campground where we can walk right out on the private beach for miles in either direction.

I only have 250 miles on it, but from what I have ridden the Road Glide handles like dream. It has a lot more fairing, but seems like a lot less weight. Really liking it so far. Kat bought herself a Can Am Spyder F3 Limited so her opinion on looks carries no credibility with me anymore. Hell, if she cared about looks I’d probably still be single.

Anyways, my back be damned I’m going to ride the shit out of this thing.
