56° and only up to the lower eighties again today.

Yes, have to sensationalize the weather to draw viewers in? Keep us frightened? Even here, when they say unnecessary travel is not recommended during snow "events", I must have really have driven through some really nasty stuff in the past. Worst I ever had was heading up to Donner pass in a whiteout and I was watching to stay between snow poles and one appeared out of the snow that I thought should have been on the left was really a right shoulder one.

Winter driving stories. Oh, the places I've been, the roads I probably shouldn't have taken at the time. Coming home from my daughter's place in Colorado several years ago, the combination of icy road, blowing snow, and 30 mph in heavy truck traffic made me consider turning back a couple of times, but I figured if I could make it to Glendo, matters would clear up. Then my windshield wiper blew off. I took the exit at Chugwater, turned the car around, and went back to Colorado for another night. That may be the only time I ever actually turned back, but probably wasn't the only time I should've turned back.

A couple of decades ago, Roy and I went to dinner in a howling blizzard because we had to be out anyway. Walked out of the restaurant when this guy pulls up on a full dress Harley that was loaded down with stuff. I walked over and told him I'd met some crazy ass bikers, but wanted to shake the hand of the winner of the #1 spot. He'd already traveled from Cody to Casper that day and was headed south to Pueblo, CO. I've always wondered if he made it.
