Re: Maggie Valley Shamrock Tour

While I can't speak to all those roads, I've been on quite a few. Northeast of Ashville there are also quite a few nice routes as well.

Re: Portfolio Performance

I haven't logged in for a while. While the DOW is up, my holdings have been having big swings up and down, with more down lately. Since Jan 1, 2026 we are down 6% YTD. Been doing some allocation changes. I got rid of funds that were income based on option trading as they were becoming dividend traps ...

Re: I don't think I can resist much longer

Congrats on the new bike Dan, even if it's to the Dark Side. Likely I'll never have a RG. In 2010 we were on a 2900 mile trip from Virginia to upper Michigan, then across Canada to NY, VT, NH and ME. While in Bangor, stopped in the dealer for a T shirt. They had a brand new CVO RG on the floor ...

Re: Portfolio Performance

This is our 2025 YTD return. While there have been ups and downs, it's doing very well. The Roth account is much smaller but has similar results.

I do regular research and monitoring almost every day. I made a lot of impulse decisions the first year, which I have learned to mitigate. I've made a ...

Good Afternoon.

Today marks the 20th anniversary of retiring from my 28-year Coast Guard career. Hard to believe it's been that long. Time sure flies.

Re: 18000 miles on a rear tire?

Check the sizes. The Elite 4 is limited to about 6 options. None of which fit my 2011 CVO. 180/55-18.

Margarita / Scabby / Stoney;

Sorry not replied earlier. Been busy with recovery and gearing up for the vending season.

I started riding again a couple weeks ago. Been out 3-4 times, nothing longer than 150 miles yet. Shoulder gets a little sore from time to time, and slow speed in parking lots ...

Re: Backroad Mike Checking in

My disability is short term for the surgery repair, so for now SSDI isn't an option. Actually, still waiting for Met Life to make the determination whether they are paying me for the short term extension to Apr 15th or not. Without going to the VA and starting a claim process, I don't have any long ...

According to my better half, there never will be a shark in our future.

Hey Daniel.

Sorry about the shoulders and having to give it up. I've cut back the last few years, and Patti's back doesn't let us do the 350-400 mile days much anymore.
Hoping to ride more now that I've retired, but also want to spend more time with our pedal kayaks and fishing.

Backroad Mike Checking in

First of all, Thanks Dan for setting this up.

Guilty of not posting much on the old place. I am on FB now too. It started as a means to use Marketplace, as I'm there looking for stuff almost every day. We also had to have a personal account to set up a business FB page as well. In 2019 we bought a ...

Re: Been hard to ride lately

I'm currently at week 16 recovering from shoulder surgery. Super Supraspinatus Tendon full tear reattached. The doc also removed a bone spur, cleaned out some arthritis, and apparently repaired the bicep tendon too. The worst is over, but still doing PT to improve range. Still have difficulty ...
