Update: my husband measured the snow atop the doghouse which is our best gauge. The final total: fourteen inches. He's out with the snowblower. I'm headed out to knock snow off treebranches.

Morning. 61 degrees and windy as heck. Glad the main part of the yard work is done. I'm thinking maybe the last plum trees might wait for pruning until early spring. Cutting down big branches by myself in a brisk wind might not be the smartest activity I could pursue.

Morning. 39 degrees. High in upper 60s and lower 70s until Tuesday when winter comes to visit. We have had such a gorgeous October, at least a couple extra weeks of perfect autumn than we usually get before snow falls hard and spoils it.

Today is the last day my daughter, granddaughter, and son in law will be with us. Tomorrow they head off to their new life in Washington via Yellowstone and Glacier, depending on the weather. It's going to be awfully quiet and lonesome around here.

Yeah, I miss him. When I went to see my aunt in Waco, I always stopped to see Jim. Aunt relocated to assisted living in Coppell and later died, so it has been a good eight years since I last visited him. Doesn't seem that long ago.
